Our Unique Specialty
The Brain Injury Rehab Center of Milwaukee is currently one of two such community re-entry programs in the State of Wisconsin
We offer:
- Sub-acute programming designed for those clients who have completed acute rehabilitation and need to continue to progress in order to be discharged to the community.
- Staff members with extensive experience in working as a team with individuals who have sustained a brain injury and their families.
- A partnership with clients and families to insure their program is based on identified goals and needs.
- Qualification for Brain Injury Waiver funding through the State of Wisconsin after a 60 day stay.
- Intensive outcome based program with 5 days a week of therapy and weekend activities.
- An aggressive interdisciplinary team approach with a history of successfully returning the majority of our clients to their home community.
Our Clients
Our 18 bed specialized unit services clients who are 15-64.
The Brain Injury Rehab Center of Milwaukee is of benefit to individuals with a brain injury as a result of motor vehicle or motorcycle accidents, assault, fall, gunshot wound, near drowning, anoxia or hypoxia, brain tumor, and diseases such as viral encephalitis.
Our clients need assistance with physical, cognitive or emotional functioning as a result of a brain injury. The Center assists individuals in helping to develop the skills needed for discharge to the home and community in the least restrictive environment possible
We accept Medicaid, private insurance, workers comp and private pay.
Each Individual Program Includes a Combination of:
- Physical, Occupational, Speech and Recreation therapies
- Neuropsychological services
- Psychiatry
- Aquatics
- Therapeutic Riding Program
- Vocational Counseling
- Activity Specialists
- Dietician
- A Physiatrist (doctor of physical medicine and rehabilitation) to direct medical care
- Community Outings
- Social Work/Case manager to coordinate services
- Nursing staff that specialize in rehabilitation and provide complex medical care including but not limited to IV therapy, wound care and tracheotomy care.
Our philosophy
The Center provides rehabilitation with a team approach. Discharge planning begins on the day of admission. From that point on, all therapeutic and medical interventions are geared toward client/family goals and facilitate the development of skill that will carry over into the discharge environment.
Visitation is encouraged. Families are welcome to join in treatment so they may learn along with the client in order to prepare for discharge.
